This morning I was working with a member over the phone discussing posted pic quality using add image.
Here I took a high quality pic and made copies of it with ever changing resolution to check the effect.
It begins with 200 pixels wide and goes up through 300, 400, 640, 1020 and 1920.
For good quality I think 1024 pixels wide is a minimum and my resultant file size was 194 kB

Hi OT, I notice that some people are posting pictures full size. What I mean is you don’t need to view the large picture on another viewing page (imgbb). How do they do that? JR

Do you mean like this JR?
If that's not what you mean can you please quote an example post?

JR thanks,
It is exactly as my photobucket example where a 3rd party pic host is used by Keith.
My photobucket pic came up labelled because I don't pay their fees. In the older days when it was free there was no watermark.
There are a number of websites that will host your pics for free so any of them should display large images like Keith's. I imagine that the image size is set when you upload your pics. The risk with using a 3rd party host is you may lose your pics if they close or it may cost you $$$ later as with photobucket.
Anyhow, I hope that answers your question.

JR, the reason I went with the simple image photo posting was that they can be set to post in thumbnails. That way you dont get one post of a few photo's taking up a full page. It makes for a cleaner sharper forum

Hi Mick, As a humble user only I will accept what we have. I personally like to be able to post a picture that dose not require you to step to another view to see it properly. The old forum worked that way and it worked well but if this is the way it is all good by me. I would have thought the number of posts per page can be set by you and if the post has a photo or two this would not make any difference.
