I haven't tried this. However imagine that it would only work with electric windows, and possibly cause the motor to turn.

Test it on a half-open window to see how hard it is to move.

Strange that the window starts to move before he pulls on the duct tape. When was it released? April 1st?

I hadn't watched the video posted here as I have seen this done before... properly.
The operator here has the tape attached too far down leaving no travel room.
Here is a better example...

I have googled some more.
And while there are supporters for this method, in an emergency, others warn of possible damage to electric and electronic components of the window system.

My expert armchair experience. The gear train on car windows are geared low at the motor. And a lot of these gears are most likely plastic. Pushing against the gears may damage them.

But if there is a child in the car, i will smash the window, call an ambulance and stay there to someone turns up, also take some photos of the cars number plate.

I was at Cleveland Lighthouse QLD a couple of months back and someone left their dog in the car while they went for coffee. Police and firefighters turned up and broke into the car. Dog was taken away by animal rescue organisation. Owners were in for a shock when they returned.
