He had no passcode set, so anyone would've been able to get straight into his banking apps. Not a lot of sympathy from me in that case.
I do all my banking on line, including the phone as well as tap and go, but every app, as well as the phone itself has a login process. I really like the convenience, but do take precautions. I even have an anti-scan sleeve for my cards in my wallet, so I don't take it all lightly... unlike the bloke in the article who didn't bother with even a basic password.

It's true Gerry that he did not lock his phone with a PIN.
However, his Westpac bank logon and password were not on his phone so he does not know how anyone could get in.
The bank knows the ID of the 2 accounts the funds were sent to so you'd think that could easily be chased up.

Ditto Gerry, passwords, patterns and in most cases 2 step identification It's the only way to go and he was stupid for not having any in place

Frank,
Two-step identification (2FA) is not much help if your phone SMS is the second step and your phone was stolen.

No banking details on my phone or tablet. I carry a laptop with me in the van and use my own wireless modem. It's much safer if you use a computer and just have the 2FA data sent through your phone.
