Thank goodness you need a key to start ours.

From day one I have detested keyless cars
I want a car that needs a key inserted to unlock the steering column and then start the engine.
I also want that key to be able to select an 'accessories on' position to power certain things as distinct from 'ignition on'.
Said key can be just a small simple bit of metal with no smarts. An old fashioned 'dumb' key.
When we caravan I use what was called the 'dealers' key intended to give to a dealer for car servicing. It only opens the door but not the glove box.
The reason for me using that 'dumb' key is in the case of a carjacking in Qld I do not lose all of my other keys that I would normally have on a comprehensive key ring.
The dumb key must be used in the driver's door to lock/unlock the car but that's a small inconvenience price to pay compared to losing a full set of house keys and ID.

I always keep my keys in my pocket. In the van I roll them up and under my pillow.

In God We Trust, sometimes but not with his car.

I fitted a Rhino keypad engine immobiliser in my Nissan. I had it stolen once and once is enough for me.

According to RACQ Insurance, TOYOTA is the preferred brand, with Landcruiser, Hilux and Corolla being the most stolen vehicles.
From the news footage that I have seen, the Toyota Prado seems very popular.

Now with Holden gone, the brand of choice for ferals/bogans(Hilux)/thieves is Toyota. A lot around to choose from.

Before our next trip north I intend to fit the secret switch that I mentioned in another thread.
Said switch will be a momentary push type, probably with a latching relay, used together with the ignition key. It could also be employed with the keyless car start button.
Nothing would happen unless both are operated simultaneously.
