As an electronics techo the last thing I'd ever do is dump my wallet and entrust everything to a bloody phone
The youngies can laugh as much as they wish but I'll have the last laugh when their phones are dropped/broken, fail electronically or get corrupted/hacked by a virus.

I understand your thoughts OT. I have it on my phone as a backup to my wallet not as my primary use. I also have a stash of the readies for when the electronic system/internet goes down. Happen on Easter Saturday in Bunnings at Maroochydore there busiest day of the year,it was cash other old fashion manual recording of your card on paper. The que to pay was massive. Us oldies with the cash just flew though. Can't ever see us going cashless and we do our bit by grocery and fuel purchases with cash.i think it's in everbodies interest.

While I use digital loyalty cards stored on my phone I don't trust the full digital wallet for payments. My phone has a folding type case in which I store my plastic cards for payment. A little bulkier than a normal phone case, but I prefer to be able to carry the cards with me.

I went to an IT security information day recently. It turns out that using your credit cards on your phone is far safer than having it in your wallet. There are devises readily available on fleebay that allows a hacker to scan your cards while standing next to you. I have had a digital credit card for a couple of years now. I have also just gone digital with my drivers license.

In addition to my previous remarks. For added security my wife and I both get notifications every time a transaction is made. Usually within a few seconds of the transaction.
I also have a daily limit on my card. So if there is a breach the won’t get a lot.

Sid,
Yes, that is possible.
The solution is to have your cards inside a metal sheath that are sold for this purpose.
I just have a very thin metal sheet tucked in the back of my wallet

A few years ago i bought a holder for my debit card, it contains alcohol in its construction, that's supposed to stop readers being used But i changed over to digital as well as a back up in case I leave my wallet home, or lose it

I am the same as OT on this. As far as I am concerned anything electronic is hackable.
