OT, I did not see anything about the power failure in Kalgoorlie. I personally have a small 3.5KW back up generator for the fridges but probably only last a day or two, no way could I last a week without fuel available.

JR,
When there are known prolonged issues with the Kal back-up power system I don't understand why critical businesses/services do not have their own back-up power.
The Servo, Supermarkets and medical facilities Unlike all other states WA has plenty of money and the Premier should have immediately sent in generator trucks/trailers.

It would only take one to two days to truck in and set up some large portable generators. When I was working in the power stations our emergency generators were tested once a week. Maybe once a month they were loaded for about half hour. Our larger gas turbines which could start the power station were even used to supply power to the grid when power was short on the grid.

I have built a house back up battery, I hope it will run all my fridges and freezers when finished. 3500wats of solar to keep it charged when I finish. First stage is a 5.8kwh battery, I should have another in a month or so. Might get to test it out soon with this low developing of the coast.

My Sister who lives over there, said she has had no power for three days, but it came back on last night.
