I've always had permanent thermometers on our 2 fridges and chest freezer.
Recently I decided to replace some as they looked tired. I poked around in TEMU and found one claiming to be suitable for fridges.
They arrived in the post today and I was keen to check their accuracy. At $2.70 each with batteries provided one does not expect a lot, but I was pleasantly surprised
To the lay person digital instruments imply great accuracy. The truth is often different, except with more expensive devices.
I would have been quite happy with any error under 1 degree. When I have a known error I attach a calibration note to it, say, add 0.7 or subtract 1.2 degrees.
I placed my 2 new $2.70 thermometers into the bar fridge freezer with their probes physically bound to my food quality thermometer probe and here is the result...

Around 1% error is quite good, isn't it?
