Had the aircon in both vehicles serviced last week and the air con bloke noticed that the fan in the cruiser was spinning freely too many times when engine was turned off. Looked online for prices for viscous fan hub, Toyota $400 plus, so searched for Dayco hub, part no. 115841, prices varied from about $127 online shop to $300 plus at Repco. I have ordered a Dayco hub from Autobarn for $150. Same part number. There are four in their Brisbane warehouse and should have it by Wednesday. Then have to install it. No wonder it costs so much for repairs these days, the amount of stuff that has to be taken off just to get to the job you want to do. Hate to be paying for all that but I guess I will have to at some time in the future as it is getting too hard to bend and twist this old body into engine bays. Barry

Hi Barry, My 80 Serious viscous fan had a similar problem but was able to open the fan body and added a thick oil. This oil was in a tube especially for these fans. Your fix is probably a better option.

JR I thought about replacing the oil but then had a second thought that said don't be stupid, for $150 it can be replaced with a new one. Barry
