Hi all Could anyone please advise me if a 2015 200 series VX landcruiser standard fit radio has a PIN number. I have never disconnected or had a flat battery so I am not sure if it has one? Cant see anything in manual. Wanting to do some wiring upgrade and need to disconnect the battery to fit a MM4x4 lock up kit

Just as a general comment... radio PIN protection in vehicles goes back a looooong way.
My 1993 Falcon had a radio PIN.

Hi Enjoy, I have a 2017 Sahara and don’t remember adding a pin cope after a battery change but funny things can happen if the battery goes flat, all good after new battery. To be sure just clip on a external 12V supply to the battery terminals when you disconnect the battery. I have the MM4x4 lock up kit and have been very happy with it probably up to 2ltrs/100kms better fuel economy when towing my 2.7tonne van and holds gears better. Not difficult to fit just check and double check you cut the two correct wires in the computer plug. JR

JR,
I didn't go down that path as I figured a zero volts environment was sought for the proposed wiring upgrade.
Replacing the battery with a well regulated power supply and known clean output should be fine but don't be tempted to use an older style battery charger as their output is usually very dirty and a risk to electronics.
I have a couple of these I use for various jobs... small bat If the Prado 12 volts is not backed up with that mini-battery I lose the radio and all windows and sunroof have to be cycled for a positional reset.
The like of the RAC* in Oz when doing roadside assistance feed in 12 volts via the vehicle ciggy lighter socket. The ignition key may need to be on accesories to connect the ciggy to the vehicle system.
Sorry to be a pedantic Techo

Thanks all for your replies, as JR has done what I am going to do a back up battery still will supply a voltage to the auto gear box computer, these wire need to cut and a spike may occur if a back up power supply is used.

Enjoy, I missed the point and yes OT, you do not won’t a backup power supply you need all to be dead while you work on the MM4x4. So when I fitted my lockup kit I had the battery disconnected for an hour or two and had no issues when the battery was reconnect. My Landcruiser is a 2017 and the radio and all that other stuff was OK. OT, the sig plug was a good option to have a backup power supply but with these push button starters and my vehicle only gives 20 minutes on auxiliaries before it turns of anyway.

Could be worth checking Landcruiser Forums.
A daughter had battery trouble a number of years ago in her Mazda Astina.
The handbook said to disconnect the battery if parked for extended periods, so i figured it was OK to just change the battery.
The radio didn't work and the handbook said to input the radio code and if incorrect it would come up ERR for error.
It wasn't until another four pages that it said that you only have three attempts and you were up for a new radio to be installed at a dealership.
The son in law said BS, and did some googling and found a code (certain key presses) to reset the radio completely, so no code was necessary.
Admittedly the Mazda didn't have a high end radio.
Did a google and this suggests that the Radio Code is the last 3 numbers of your VIN, perhaps cruiser owners can do a quick check?
