Yes, they are a PIA... but, you can turn off all messages and notifications by logging in and finding the settings menu. There's a whole bunch of settings for email, messages and push notifications which can all be turned off.
It's worth it as I find that those emails set targets you can't achieve without referring friends and/or spending heaps of extra cash, usually buying stuff you don't need.
Having said that, the stuff I have bought all seems to be pretty good and at bargain prices compared to other sites.

Sid,
I get zero SMS alerts.
Have you gone into your account, clicked on notifications, and tinkered with settings?
I have turned off a few SMS things...

Hi OT. I haven’t got an account with them. They are also using an old mail account. I thing it may not be from Temu. Possibly a scammer

I have had three small orders from Temu over the last few weeks with no problems, but today tried to order an ethernet cable tester for less than $15 and when getting to cart find that there is now a minimum order of $45.
Tried 3 different places and same result so guess first few orders are to suck me in and now jack up spending cost. This is why they were cheap to start with. Oh well back to ebay.

When I bought our 65 inch 4K TV 8 years ago from JBHiFi it cost nearly 4 grand.
I asked about throwing in a second remote control, but no. They were $70 but they would make a concession at $40.
I wanted to buy another remote now and figured they would be much cheaper. I didn't think a complex device could be this cheap and various players still make a profit
I've ordered this one from Temu for $2.63

OT, does your temu insist on you spending a minimum amount?
I'm currently looking at buying something and it's telling me I need to spend $35 before I can go to the checkout. No such limitations on ebay.

Gerry,
My very first order last July was free delivery despite being for less than $4.
Some subsequent orders wanted a minimum of $20 but only to get free delivery.
In response to your post I logged in and picked the first item I saw. It was for $8.43
I put that in my cart, it went to checkout and was waiting for me to commit via PayPal.
So my only experience with any minimum is to get free delivery. You can ignore that and it will add delivery cost.

OT I just checked and it's definitely a $35 minimum order. It won't allow me to proceed to the checkout at all and I have $26 in the cart.
There's no way I'm spending that much just to get a cheaper item.

Gerry,
In my last test I didn't complete the purchase, although I had no issue in getting to the 'commit' phase.
Just now I picked up my old laptop 2.5" hard drive and decided I wanted an adaptor IDE to USB.
Doing a general Google search Temu popped up quickly so I logged in and bought one.
Despite being only $8.35 it was still free delivery. So I cannot explain your circumstances

Gerry,
Yesterday, I had my first $35 min experience.
I had a LED order for about $16 and when I hit submit it gave me the $35 min response. I fiddled with that a few times without success.
Then I noticed under the submit button was the PayPal button. I clicked on that instead and my order was completed
Today I thought I'd try again. I found a box of 180 stainless steel washers for $4.49 and when I hit the Submit button, expecting rejection, it took me to the checkout page and I paid for it
So there is a $4.49 box of washers with free delivery

I always use PayPal too but after going to the checkout.
That is the way I have done for previous orders, next time I will try your way. Beginning of last week I tried to order a multimeter for about $8 and had the $45 minimum spend come up again so went to Aliexpress and bought there, arrived last Thursday. Faster delivery than when I buy something in Australia. And why do I have to spend min. of $45 when you only need to spend $35 ?? Queenslanders must have to pay more than Southerners. !!!! Barry

Tried again OT, on the PC, but it won't even let me go to the checkout until I have at least $35. I reckon they're missing out on quite a few sales when other, similar sites don't impose such a minimum spend.

Gerry,
Just now I tried to replicate the scenario I had last time. I tested with a cheap item. I don't know if this is exactly the same as last time but it looks like it.
Last time when I clicked on the Checkout button it gave me the $35 minimum warning. I tried fiddling with that a bit but could not get around it. Then I spotted the PayPal express checkout button and that instantly worked. I didn't try that just now as I don't want that item.
