The next gen Ranger and Everest, like every vehicle in their class, are fitted with trailer sway control. But for these models, they are now available with an integrated brake controller and a driving mode called Tow/Haul mode. This mode changes the gear change points, improve engine braking to name a couple of things. If you are towing a trailer (caravan etc) in tow/haul mode and trailer sway is detected, the system will use the ABS to brake the appropriate wheels as to try and stop the sway. As well, if fitted with the integrated brake controller, the vehicle sway control will activate the trailer brakes(all at once).
I believe this something that has been available on the trucks in the US for a while. So you would hope that as the new model utes here are rolled out, they will also have these features.

It's about time manufacturers integrated braking and sway control between tug and trailer.
I've been waiting for this to happen for years (of course I know that the yanks have had it for ages )

My DMUX has trailer sway control. Not sure how it works. I was traveling from Tailem Bend to Seaford SA last Saturday. The winds were horrendous. Especially on the Southern expressway near Mt Barker. I was hit a couple of time pretty hard. The sway control seemed to be doing a great job.

I guess one would need to do some research on the affect that the Alko ESC would have if that were fitted to the van? Are they compatible or would you need to remove the Alko (or Dexter) system if your van has this fitted?

Watching some videos when Dexter ESC was released the tester compared the Dexter ESC to the vehicle sway control. The trailer sway control always come on first. When used together, they complimented each other. As far as using ALKO or Dexter with the next gen Fords, I don't see an issue. The brakes on the caravan would come one regardless what system initiated it.
