Because our Prado is only used for towing it can basically sit unused for 9 months a year.
There may be the odd short trip but they are fairly rare.
I connect a small 12 volt plugpack (max 1 amp) to it about once a month and leave it on for 2 or 3 days.
To make that easier I wired a small DC socket to the Prado battery so the plugpack can be quickly connected.
All modern vehicles have parasitic loads that can drag the battery down.

Last year when we went away for 4 months, pour friends were going to disconnect the battery on their car so that it wouldn't go flat, I suggested that they get a 5w solar panel, connect it to the battery and leave it on the dash, which they did I have such a panel on the roof of our front verandah where the motorbike is parked, to keep its battery full over the winter months when it's not used often and another on the shed roof, connected to a 22ah battery, which is my 12v test battery

I have a similar panel Frank, connected to the caravan when it sits in the shed for 9 months
