Had my van serviced this week and the old tyre date came up.On the 6 year mark and replacement was mentioned.I have Wild Peak LT by Falken tyres on the van and its always garaged in total cover and although they have hit the date they are on perfect nick. When I was crook I had the van on stands for two years and again totally covered in my RV garage. I reckon they have years left in them but will be out of date, what's the go about the use by date. ?

I had BFGs on for 10 years Peter and I only changed them because we were doing a trip around the block. Our van was also covered for most of its tyre life when not being used which was doing about 4,000 klms a year. So from my experience I would go to 10 years but keeping an eye on them for cracking etc. Just my opinion of course that May account for nothing 😉😄.

Yes Lengdts that's the issue, tyre's look new to be honest, good thing you mentioned cracking as I have 4 Firestone airbases 15 years old and when I asked Airbag man about longevity he said they would start cracking but are all good as again never see the light of day and in the garage. Yes I think I will keep an eye on them and keep banging away.

When I changed tyres on the van a few years back I mentioned to the tyre guy (who is also my mechanic) that the spare was about 8yo and needed to be checked, he said that because it was covered by the wheel cover it would be ok to go another round, as long as tyres are covered or under cover when not in use 10+ years is fine
