Very interesting video OT, I was not aware of some of the strict rules they have to work under and to get close to 50% efficiency is impressive. That generator on the turbo to work as a waste gate is another thing to assist acceleration, I hope they don’t put them on normal vehicles as the cost would be enormous. JR  |

Just another thought on that generator waste gate control, Those turbo’s run at over 400,000 RPM so must be a hell of a generator to handle that kind of speed. Maybe goes through some kind of speed reduction system and the rotor is a very small dia. JR |

That 400,000 rpm equates to 6,666 Hz. A six pole generator/motor would thus work at a maximum of less than 20 kHz. There are plenty of materials to construct a unit from that will operate at those frequencies. The gene/motor would be just a small blister on the shaft.
