The oils in the diffs and transfer case have been in there for three and a half years as we have not travelled very far in last few years, and I wondered how good was oil integrity by now, so decided to change them early. 5000km early for the diffs and 20000km early for transfer case. It cost less than $100 and makes me feel happier. Barry

A timely post Baz as I did mine exactly 2 weeks ago.
Prado oil change specs… diffs normal use @ 40k and severe @ 20k. Transfer case normal @ never and severe @ 40k. I reckon my use is between those.
Jan 2016 @ 97k all 3 changed (reference)
May 2018 @ 122k all 3 changed, so that’s 28 months and 25k
Feb 2023 @ 155k all 3 changed, so that’s 57 months and 33k
I change my engine oil based upon distance (5k max) and to some extent time whereas time doesn’t bother me for gear systems as they don’t contain toxins like engine oil.
Your ramp looks like it would support a Sherman Tank
For oil changes I need my mini-ramps to lift the rear wheels to get the Prado level...

Just had the auto transmission oil changed at 113,000K’s. The oil was dark in colour but with a light behind it you could still see a red tinge. Toyota say never but with more than half the distance towing I thought I should get it done. I used Penrite ATF LV fully synthetic which has better specifications than the Toyota ATF WS. The people that changed the oil fitted new filter and new pan gasket and advised they get over 95% of the old oil. When I sold my 100 Series it had 220,000K’s on the clock and the person that purchased it called one day to see if I had ever changed the transmission oil and advised him never. He was relieved as the oil he drained was very black and thought there may have been a problem, but the transmission was working perfectly. I change the engine oil at 10,000K,s and use Valvoline SynPower DT C2 0W-30 it is a full synthetic engine oil designed for use in the latest generation diesel vehicles with DPF fitted. Sure, the oil goes black but with these modern synthetic oils 10,000K’s is nothing. The last Landcruiser I changed oil at 5000K’s was my 60 Series. JR

Be careful stepping out the door OT. Yes I have great confidence in the ramps. JR I have the auto trans. oil changed every two to three years and the bloke that has been rebuilding and servicing all my auto's for the last 36 years, said that is why I do not have problems with my auto's. Part of my working life I had a couple of trucks and soon found that preventive maintenance was far less cost than waiting until something went wrong. Barry

JR,
The Prado spec for ATF is... normal use, never, extreme use @ 80k
Given a lot of towing I did my ATF in 2013 @ 66k and then again in 2018 @ 122k
For that second flush I kept note and used 13.5 litres of genuine ATF and I noticed quite a difference in old vs new colour...
