Is anyone using a trailer mounted Bluetooth electric brake controller? I am wondering how good they are. Do they compare favourably with the traditional ones? Are they proportional? They certainly are easier to install.

Never heard of them Roger.
They would be proportional as an accelerometer chip would be part of the electronics.
I did a quick bit of limited research and my primary concern is a manual override control. I use mine frequently but I did not see that mentioned in my limited research.
As critical examples... fly-by-wire is used in aeroplanes and Formula One cars. It seems to work but the concept always makes me nervous

That is an interesting controller. There is an interesting page linked to the site - “how is it possible to draw enough amps from standard trailer wiring to power electric trailer brakes?”. - To operate the brake controller it is necessary to have your tail lights switched on. The controller is supposed to be able to draw a total of 16 A from both the stop light and tail light circuits. I can see some people forgetting to switch on their parking lights when towing. This would leave the rig without effective braking in a panic stop.
Regarding the reliably of the wireless connection, the loss of the Bluetooth connection does not affect the normal braking operations, just the manual over-ride function.

Although I always tow with headlights on I'm not keen on the brake controller source of power. I emailed the maker and discovered that the manual override button on the remote control is pressure sensitive so it does have some analogue control
