While on our trip this year I put the rig over the Hume highway weigh bridge and got a shock. I suspected the cruiser was a tad over, yeah, dream on sunshine! 340kg over without the Engel in the back. Because of that I got the cruiser booked in for a Lovells 3800kg upgrade. I previously had 400kg springs in the rear (done 4 years ago up from 200kg) and a 2” lift on the front, all ARB. the front had dropped nearly an inch and three quarters. Had the job done and also had Whiteline UCAs fitted to get back into the middle of alignment. End result, very happy, steers way better with very little input required and the ride we believe to be more comfortable. In all honesty the rig tows exactly the same as previously other than minimal steering input to track straight, where before you were having to be making slight changes. The van was slightly over which will be rectified when we get home. Overall GCM was right on the legal limit of 6800kg. I now have a GCM of 7300kg.

That's interesting as I didn't think they were allowed to do GCM upgrades any more, only GVM. What state are you in (and I don't mean sober... ) and how long ago did you have it done?

Hello Gerry. I am in Victoria and the GCM is allowable in that state. I have a new plate that states the upgrade info. I had it done in July this year.
Gerry am sending a PM.

Thanks Jeff. I just had my GVM upgraded on my Ranger here in SA, but a GCM was out of the question, even under SSM (second stage manufacturing) status.

Bummer!
I believe it can depend not only on the State but vehicle and year as well.

I took my car over thre weigh bridge at the local garden center here on the weekend To get some idea knowing that I'd be pretty close to the limit of 2930kg HVM
She arrived in at 2.44 tonne add to that the ball went off 191kg plus all the gear, Brenda, dogs, extra fuel, water, etc etc and I guesstimate at about 50kg over
I'm going to have to cull weight
The van is 1900 and GCM 5800 so those are OK

No OT, he's not taking Jenny, only Brenda.
But Frank, you counted Brenda in your load weights, did you include yaself, or are you staying home with Jenny ?

Yes Frank, I wouldn’t be surprised if most tugs these days are over.
