Unfortunately, I feel that caravan and camper manufacturing will eventually go the way of our motor industry... off shore. Many imports are already having a huge effect, especially in the camper trailer scene. Our wages, taxation and overheads are simply not competitive with many other countries where an increasing amount of manufacturing takes place. Sad I know, but inevitable in my humble opinion.

Unfortunately, I think you may be right Gerry. Might take a fair while though.

There are many smaller builders out there now, probably too many. Can't really see many of them surviving in the longer term. Jayco would be the only builder able to cope with imports I think, they have a full bore R&D setup that's able to act quickly to meet any market changes. Warranty, compliance, parts availability and other issues come into play with imported items.
