National Road Transport Hall of Fame in administration after investigation finds financial irregularities. One of Australia's most important road transport museums is under a cloud following a Northern Territory Government investigation into financial irregularities. Key points: A statutory manager has been appointed to the National Road Transport Historical Society after CEO Liz Martin resigned Rosey Batt and Associates will manage the governance and finances of the association The annual Truckies' Reunion slated for August 2019 is now in question www.abc.net.au/news/2019-07-25/national-road-transport-hall-of-fame-under-administration/11341568
--------------------- A sad set of circumstances, I think many of us have been through that Museum and enjoyed the experience.

Liz is a personal friend of ours and this is a copy of her post on Facebook after I sent her a link to that story
Well well well ABC you have excelled your lying tongue again. But thankyou for the opportunity to sue the proverbial ass of you. The various parties involved have met amicably and while there are things I dont agree with and visa versa we are working steadfastly to a workable pathway. This nonsense helps no one and serves to feed the keyboard warriors and naysayers and make our members and volunteers distraught. Rot in hell ABC
Liz and the NT government have been in negotiation for a couple of years (because of the lost paperwork) and the BS media has been trying to destroy a wonderful museum and landmark for God knows what reason, this is a rehash of a 2yo story Liz is also opening another museum in Pt Pirie (should be open next year) not only trucking orientated We were lucky enough to be part of a group to be invited to a private tour of tge unfinished project

Brenda and I are planning to be there for the 2020 reunion Its a good nights work for the volunteers, but its a hoot and a great night Well be there for 2 or 3 weeks before and about the same after
If you haven't volunteered at the hall of fame before, it is fantastic Brenda and I have done it twice and loved it Places are not always available, it's first in first served but they will try to accommodate For 10hrs of work per week per person, you get a powered site and all the facilities of a CP, nothing flash but it's all there All work is done by volunteers, all caravanners/ motorhomers When the place closes you all get together for happy hour You do what ever you can, if you're a plumber that's what you do, electrician, ditto, no trade, clean, work in the shop, help other in building, cementing what ever, no body pushing you to work, hell if you talk to a paying visitor for an hour, thats considered as an hours work The first time you work there they do ask for a minimum of 3 weeks (might be 4) but it's a hoot
