That why dialing a phone number from your radio or when your phone is in an approved holder (which doesn't require you to take your eyes off the field ov view of the road) is not illegal Or using a headset with voice command Sorry Frank...even with an approved holder as you say, you still have to take your eyes off the road to dial a number or to answer the phone....Not sure if a hands free system is legal in every State.
Jeff..I take your point but you still have to hold the mike in one hand to talk so therefore you are driving one handed and still being distracted...seems to me to be a very fine line between the two. Also seems to me that a Truckie driving 50 tons of B-Double down the highway at 100 KPH in traffic whilst driving one handed and yarning away to a mate in another truck is, potentially, at least just as dangerous.
