I reckon having bolts in that area might make it easier to fit the bar for alignment when fitting but it makes for a problem with side ways flexing.
Of course we are not to know all that just purchasing a tow bar from reputable companies.Mine is fitted from new at a Hayman Reece place as I needed the hitch etc. I just checked the thing out yesterday and noting is loose and all blt up to torque with a T wrench.
The bar has been on since 2004.....Maybe it is all just nicely rusted on. But it was a good reminder to check it.
I had not done so for years as I never heard any noises out the rear whilst traveling but you never know.
