In a couple of months it will be 20 years since I got up to go to work.
As a self-funded retiree now I get up earlier than when I worked and I never get any weekends or pub hols off.
But despite doing longer hours I earn a bloody sight less than when I had a paid job
Still..... I much prefer being retired

Morning all I'm on holidays at the moment, I go back to work for 5 weeks then retire I've been on a pension for a number of years due to having had 2 heart attacks in my 30s I've been working part time to top up the pension driving a school bus The government is putting more and more hurdles in my way to keep my license (HR) and bus accreditation I can understand that I have to keep an eye on my health, I have to see my doctor 3 times a year and my cardiologist once a year to make sure all is going well I have no problem with that A few years ago they said I had to have an echocardiogram every year Then a couple of years later a stress echocardiogram every year I have to see an optometrist ans now they have just realized I have hearing loss, well DUH it's been in my medical reports for the last 10 years that I wear hearing aids So I have to have an audiologist's report as well As all this is for a HR license and accreditation, so it is not covered by Medicare It's costing ne nearly $700 a year to keep my license as well as the stress of having to deal with the dimwits at the licensing dept This year my police check is also due another $50 odd as well as my license (10yr) that's $200+ All this for a job where I don't even earn enough to pay tax?
So I told the boss, enough is enough the 13th of December sees me retired

Yep I handed in all my licenses etc due to just costing me too much annually.
Motor bike, shooting, boat, fork lift, plumbing.Expert Lover.... No one realizes that it costs over a thousand dollars a year to just keep the plumbing license, and so it is government curtailing the elderly from being able to work.
Then they make adds to get manufactures to employ the elderly. So now I avoid gas work etc as I can no longer submit the work done to various departments.
Probably doesn't matter as far as trying to help other members but even then on another forum I was asked how the hell would you use a naked flame under a van to fix and soften a pvc pipe. One suggest that "do we have to turn the van upside down?....
Proving to me once again that I know nothing.

DT,
Expert lover???
Hmmmm.... a parsing problem
Do you mean very good at affairs of the heart... or that you love experts?
Does that PVC pipe softener not have a heat gun or hair dryer?

Well I have had an interesting last 48 hours. Got up Tuesday morning to put the plate warmer on as per normal, came back to bed for 20 minutes, or so I thought. Went to get up to get my wife breakfast but couldn’t because the world was spinning around me a million miles an hour. Went on for about two and a half hours with nausea and vomiting etc. In the end my wife called the ambulance so down to hospital and an overnight stay. Long story short my world didn’t stop spinning until over 24 hours later. Put down to BPPV (you can google that) but basically inner ear issue. Still not on top of the world today and we were supposed to leave for a couple of weeks in Inverloch today which has been put off until Monday so hope it’s all resolved by then. Anyway the weather is crap today and very high winds so a lousy blessing in disguise. www.medicalnewstoday.com/knowledge/160900/vertigo-causes-symptoms-treatmentsHope everyone else’s day is great.

Jeff, I hope the symptoms go away quickly and don't return so you can go on holidays. I had an episode of regular vertigo about 12 minths ago. Most disconcerting. In my case, a trip to hospital for a few hours and some stemetil fixed it.

G'day Jeff My wife suffers from normal virtugo and wakes with it occasionally but it's gone by lunchtime A few weeks back we were in Pt Augusta heading for Ceduna with friends and she got BPPV the hospital did some tests but advised we head home and see Brenda's GP She diagnosed it and told us to use the Epsley's maneuver which we use with the standard virtigo, that helps fix it but unfortunately once you have it, it will return The Epsley's maneuver is great and other attacks have last no more than 2 days where as the first had built up over 2 weeks www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/treatment-tests-and-therapies/home-epley-maneuverBest of luck with it
