My NBN service is nearly here. Nearly
I received a promotional letter from TPG offering me their service. I have a few technical questions so made a list and rang their 1300 number. A female answered with a difficult to understand pseudo american voice I sensed a useless call and after a couple of questions I hung up.
Next I checked TPG's website. Looking for contact info I finished up here. Not many happy chappies here... community.tpg.com.au/t5/Broadband-Internet/Re-TPG-Email-Outage/m-p/36788

I was with TPG for 18 years and never had a problem but that was with dialup and then ADSL 2. glanyard
PS It is better to email your questions than speak to someone in the Philippines.

We (my wife and I) are about (at last) to get the NBN.
Our data usage is fairly high (about 10 Gb a month and rockets whenever we have a housesitter!). We currently use wireless 4G (via the homes' WiFi) that gives a download of about 50 Mbit/s and upload of about 5 Mbit/s. Is ultra-reliable - but slow when local kids get home from school.
Optus and Telstra suggest ADSL2 Plus (but we had that as a wired service for a time and found it far too slow).
Reliability is essential for my (child psychologist) wife. What we'd really like is a no download-limit service. Any advice would be appreciated.

Went through the whole NBN circus about a year ago (I think).
After reading a number of forums etc I decided to go with Aussie Broadband. Not sure if they are the cheapest but when I initially had an issue with our handsfree phone not working they understood the issue straight away and gave me the solution. Unfortunately the solution was not use the existing Panasonic due to the way the dialling works but at least they gave me an honest response. Bought another handsfree setup and all good. The service is reliable and from memory they guarantee that they won't oversell their allocation (?) at the exchange which is generally a problem with other providers
Nearly a year on and I am happy

We have been with TPG NBN for about a year and originally had a lot of problems with crook modems, which they replaced. We do not get anywhere near the advertised speed (currently 30 Mbps at 7:45am Vs 43.7 claimed typical evening speed) and it occasionally gets very slow indeed. This can usually be corrected by rebooting the modem. Keith

My Yankee mate just posted his net upgrade and he didn't opt for the best plan.
He lives in a USA rural town with a population of less than 8,000...

Regards Will whose speed to the beer fridge is like lightning but to put his hand in his pocket, very slow.

I was with OPTUS for many years and moved to TPG on the Optus network
TPG then moved to VODAPHONE and then the **** hit the fan
Vodaphone network was only in the city and then not even in my neighbourhood
moved to testra on the mobile , which we do not use a lot , only on the road
our landline ( WHY because we like it is OPTUS ) NBN

I did post in the ACC section that TPG has now bought out Vodaphone. I gave Vodaphone up, as it was the Kogan mobs pal and the crappiest mob I ever had as a provider. My son was with TPG on ADSL too and they were fine.

Personally, I have lost interest in NBN.
I have an Aldi Family Plan.
All Calls & SMS and 72 GB of data for 80 bucks / month.
Up to 4 SIM cards.
I for me, the wife, modem and last one is for the burglar alarm.
No landline at all.

I’m in the same category as you gerrym. The house we are in has FTTN connection from the previous owner but from what I can see for our usage we would get very little benefit for extra cost. I’m now looking at using our mobile as a hotspot with Telstra at $60 for 60gb. We currently use just under 30gb a month but could go over on the odd month if I don’t keep an eye out. We have been wireless with no home phone for two years using a Netgear Nighthawk for internet.
How have others found using their phones as hotspots?
Any downsides?
