I don't wish to appear to be pushing a particular manufacturer, but this link has some information that may interest some.
There is another device that I have installed at my house. AquaTrip

For more on the technical aspect that may be missing from plumbers' education.

Thanks for those links Gerry, I note Abey have on small size that will fit the flick mixer direct but that is the size I will need. When I get time, I will replace all my hoses with Abey’s Polyamide Hi Class Easy Hookers. I should need a total of 13 hoses. JR

Gerry,
Ta for the Abey info but their hoses seem not to be available at a retail level.
Are they 'trade only' products?

Nopers OT. From memory, you have a Reece down the road from your place, though I would ring first. You will see their name in the URL. They also have waterless traps and other stuff that may be of interest.
This mob is trade only, and I have purchased from them when it is stuff that I can't get in QLD.

Thanks Gerry,
Google searching brings up a few hits but most are just info and not sellers.
The 2 sellers i saw were plumber's supplies and sought a trade account registration.
The first mob I had tried online was Reeces and they have 35 Abey products listed, but no hoses.
I'll give the phone a go tomorrow

Only down side that have found with Abey Products, is that they are manufactured by your fellow Mexicans.

I saw this item on Quora...
What is the danger in turning off the water if leaving a house for a few months?
I have a ball valve installed in the main water line that comes into the house. I have installed this ball valve in every house we have owned. When we leave for any time (a few days to weeks) in the winter I close this ball valve and flush all the toilets. This relieves the pressure on the water line and ensures that if the heater fails the power goes out or for some reason the house freezes up. I won’t have a a massive water leak to go with it.
As a young man we were on vacation. A man in the mountain cabin next to us was from Albuquerque, NM. His house had been built on fill over an arroyo (dry canyon). He had not left any heat on in the house. An early cold front had come through Albuquerque. His toilet tank in the master bathroom had frozen and busted. The water ran into the floor air ducts. The ground had subsided under the house. He neighbors first noticed something was wrong when the master bedroom fireplace chimney had collapsed into the back yard.
His neighbor had been left a key In case anything happened at the house. His neighbor entered the house heard water running. He went to the water meter and shut the water off. He then re-entered the house and was able to stand on the dining room table and look over the subsided walls all the way to the back of the house. The concrete floors were collapsing into the crater created by the water-soaked ground under the house.
I decided then and there that I would always shut off the water whenever we left on vacation or for any extended period of time. I have never had any water leaks, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
