Roger,
Either I have forgotten your hints or they didn't register.
I could send you a PM but for starters which centre did you work at?
If ML then we could chat more. Also what era? When did you quit?

So working with either is easy, the one thing about the metric system we use is that we don't use the deci (desi) and daca (deka) measures, as I used in Europe A decimeter is 1 10th of a meter eg 10cm and a decameter is 10 meters I use decimetres occasionally. When I am working out capacity I convert the linear measurements to decimetres, then when I finish my multiplications the answer is in litres. Try it yourself when working out the approximate capacity of your grey water tank.

Yes: after reading all this, I got to thinking..What else needs to be decimilised?..AAAAh! Got it!...The bloody calender..of course.. everything is in imperial..I mean 365 days in a year !!! 30 or 31 or 28 days in a month !!!!! 7 days in a week !!!! etc. etc. how ridiculous...So how to fix the problem I guess you'd have to start with the timing of a day e.g. 24 hours would become 20 Drecals..there would be 50 Hectadrecals in a Drecal, 50 Decidrecals in a Hectadrecal etc, etc, etc, I'm getting weary just thinking about it...anyone care to extrapolate ? Bit of fun anyway, Jock

Jock, I think your new units should be Drams ( of Whisky )!

All sounds really plausible to me Jock... the only thing I'm having trouble with is working out how to get the earth to orbit the sun a bit quicker so we can have 100 days in a year. Now wouldn't that confuse the crap out of migratory species around the world! They'd have to do their thing three times more often.

Hey Muzz what would you suggest the increments of the 'Dram' should be ?? ...In keeping with the decimalised theme,...... Perhaps 'Hectodrams" or 'Dramopascals'
Hey! you've also raised the thought of further 'imperial' measurements still being used...The humble 7oz glass of beer..or (to be closer to decimalised) even the 10oz. glass.

Speaking of decimalising the calendar, have you all forgotten that it was originally decimal? At least the year was. There were 10 months in the Roman calendar, before they added the extra 2. Where did the names come from? Latin.
September. 7 October. 8 November. 9 December. 10. 😁

Well Jock, with very little forethought I have come up with -
Smallest measurement = 1 Dram 10 Drams = 1 Drama 10 Dramas = 1 Dramatic 10 Dramatics = 1 Holy Cr@p (but only during a pandemic)!
Patent pending.
Sorry, it is the whisky talking.
